Beloved in the Lord,
It is, therefore, with joy that I share with you the good news coming from Burkina Faso, a country that you love and cherish without having seen it. A country for which you pray tirelessly and which you carry in your hearts.
I present to you by this letter our deep gratitude for your unwavering support of our ministry in Burkina Faso.
God continues to move in our country despite the terrorist attacks which cause families to mourn and the negative effects of Covid-19.
We continue to proclaim the Gospel of Christ there, build up the people of God, and equip them to continue the task relentlessly.
So, we celebrated Easter like other churches around the world in April. It was a great time for commemorative meetings throughout the week and fellowship on Sunday. We then celebrated Youth Day in May, followed by Children’s Day in June. We bless the Lord for each of these gatherings which have been opportunities to strengthen their capacity to serve the Lord.
The church in Bigtogo is also doing well. Pastor Yonli and his evangelistic team continue to hold weekly prayer and Bible study meetings to strengthen the group. School support also continued well; thus, the level of several children who had difficulties in mathematics and in English was raised. We bless the Lord for all this progress and thank you for your prayers and faithful support!
Our heartfelt cry for the need for water has also been heard and, thanks to your financial support, clean water is back in our taps at home and we can once again serve the people around us. To God be all the glory and thank you for your support!
The school year also ended well for our 240 students, the passing exams went well, and were encouraging. They have been in touch with the Gospel throughout the year, through times of Bible studies, prayer, and memorizing one Bible verse per week. A cultural day came to crown the work: the children in traditional outfits of their ethnic group sang the praises of the Lord. It was really, really wonderful.
The women’s training center also continued its program with 12 women and 2 young girls. Their training year ended on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the church with a thanksgiving service. They exhibited some of the products of their training which they made themselves while learning. It was exciting and great to see veiled Muslim women singing and glorifying Jesus Christ. We bless the Lord for all these possibilities to witness of Christ and His love to the people of Sakoula and its surroundings. God is at work and we continue to pray that it will bear much fruit for the salvation of many.
On July 18th, a storm destroyed the roof of our church. Thank you for praying to the Lord to help us to repair it.
Prayers Requests:
1. Please continue to pray for us to get our official documents for the opening of our primary school. The process is too complicated with a lot of obstacles. But the Lord controls the hearts of men!
2. Pray for the strengthening of the faith of the children of Bigtogo. Remember, especially, those whose parents prevent them from coming to church meetings although many of them come in secret.
3. We are planning a children’s camp in Sakoula from September 2 to 8, 2021, where in addition to Bible teachings, we aim to introduce children to the culinary arts, hairdressing, and learning knitting. Pray that the Lord will provide
for the financial needs of this camp which aims to gather 170 children. We need to mobilize 20 dollars per child.
4. To prepare for the upcoming start of the women’s training center, we need to build a hangar shed next to the current workshop so that the women can have shade during the heat. Pray that the Lord will provide $2,150.00 for this need.
