Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
In our last letter, we had shared that we were going to travel to the US to be with our children, supporters, and friends. Those were our thoughts and plans. Just a few days before our departure date, we got word that we could not travel due to the pandemic. It was hard, especially for our daughter, Ruth, and son-in-law, Stephen, who had hoped that we would be there for the birth of their daughter and our first grandchild. We also had looked forward to being there. Our great comfort was that the Lord knew what was best for our family. His thoughts and ways are perfect. We praise the Lord for the birth of our granddaughter, Aziza Kalea Kasali, on April 1st. She is growing well and is such a joy to her parents and our family.
The pandemic has caused many changes in the ministry and in people’s lives here as it has globally. We minister to our congregation through the Internet and phone. Some of our feeding programs have been affected. Out of the five feeding centers, we are only able to deliver food to two. No Good News Club. Miss the kids. Culturally, people gather in homes to comfort those who have lost their loved ones and attend funerals but now only a few people and mostly families.
On top of the pandemic, the country has suffered loss of lives and property due to floods. Before the pandemic, there were the locusts which destroyed crops in some parts of the country.
On Thursday, May 14th, Paul and a friend were in a car accident. They were hit by a car that was overtaking. The friend got a fracture in one of the bones on his back. It could have been worse. Despite all these challenges, God has been good and faithful.
Praises:
God’s intervention in our travel plans
The safe arrival of our granddaughter
His protection of Paul and our friend
Our children still have jobs.
We are still able to share God’s Word.
Prayer Requests:
That in God’s time the pandemic will go.
For families who have lost loved ones and those who are sick globally
His protection from the disease and safety on the roads
That God will help us learn what He wants to teach us from all these challenges
Thank you very much for your prayers and financial support, especially during these difficult times. Our prayers are with you, too. May the Lord bless you.
Because of His Love,
Paul and Leah Manyara
